A Nerang woman is today revelling in the marvels of her handiwork.

Gold Coast local Chantelle Borden spoke to The Advocate about her satisfaction levels after putting the finishing touches on her dream home.

Raised in some other transient suburban bushland that makes up one of the Gold Coast’s many localities, Chantelle said the process of building her new project home on the edge of Nerang has been a process.

“Look, it was so challenging, but so worth it in the end,” explained the hair dresser who dove right into being the architect and project manager on the kit home she and her husband ordered.

“Obviously the project home people give you the bones, but it was up to me properly design and decorate the place,” she said.

“Craig wasn’t much help on that front,” laughed Chantelle.

“He wanted to put the second toilet next to the kitchen…”

“It was a bit like planning for OUR wedding all over again.”

The DIY architect who gave herself an honorary architectural degree from the University of Pinterest, Instagram and Design Magazines, said she’s pretty stoked with what she’s achieved.

“It’s my slice of heaven,” said Chantelle.

“I’m pretty pleased with the slate style driveway pavers in particular.”

“It’s the toast of the cul-de-sac.”

“Pebblecrete is soooooo overdone,” she said, showing us the faux salt paver design.

“This, this is style and class!”

More to come.
