The new Netflix documentary about the life and times of David Beckham has given audiences a rare glimpse into the power-couple marriage between the British soccer superstar and his pop superstar wife Victoria ‘Posh Spice’ Beckham.
Aside from all of the footballing glory and the hundreds of millions of records sold, the real achievement of the Beckham dynasty is the chemistry that still exists between this mega-famous husband and wife – especially after the cruelty they suffered at the hands of the British press.
The tumultuous marriage of ‘Posh and Becks’ – plagued by allegations of infidelity and the same obsessive paparazzi tactics that killed Amy Winehouse and Princess Diana – still remains rock solid to this day.
It’s a refreshing change when compared to the Kardashian and Taylor Swift style dramas that we as a society are constantly updated on against our will.
Right around the world, everyday people are feeling sheepish about how hard they were on this unfairly attractive duo, who were crucified by a jealous public who resented his footballing talent and her looks.
However, that is not to say that David Beckham didn’t make things hard for himself during the height of their celebrity. In fact, some could argue that he often behaved like an absolute moron.
The documentary details many, many moments in David Beckham’s career when he started prioritising his ego over family. Often without ever consulting his wife on his extremely tone deaf off-field activities.
During a rather intense confessional, Victoria Beckham revealed that David almost missed the birth of their son Cruz in 2005 because he was on a photo shoot with Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé. Two of the biggest sex icons in the world at the time.
“I was like, ‘Seriously, I’m about to burst,'” Victoria recalled.
“I’m on bed rest. Are you kidding me?! You’ve got a damn photoshoot with Jennifer Lopez who is gorgeous and not about to have a baby.'”
Posh said the result of this bizarre photoshoot was a front page headline ‘WHAT WOULD POSH SAY?’”
“Let me tell you what Posh would say” said Posh.
“Posh was pissed off!”
Despite her very envious life, every single viewer in the world, male and female, could sympathise with Posh in this moment.
Could’ve given that one a miss Davey.
