Following the news that Lisa Wilkinson will be joining Peter Helliar, Carrie Bickmore and Waleed Aly on The Project, after ten years on The Today Show, the channel 10 anchors are beginning to worry about the pressure of inheriting a number one rating TV host.
It is believed that the current Project line-up, which consists of former-comedians and professional opinion-givers, are in training to develop an actual news show like rapport with the acclaimed journalist.
Carrie Bickmore has been told to study recurring co-host Ben Fordham, Waleed Aly has been told to best emulate Sylvia Jeffries and Peter Helliar has been thrown the curveball of Karl Stefanovic.
“Basically I need to pull a couple of all-nighters and let Lisa carry the show” said Helliar
“At least that’s what I’ve been told. Just in the early stages, to help her get to know the format”
“On top of that I need to learn about sports that aren’t AFL and need to occasionally acknowledge the existence of Queensland”
Helliar’s strict training regime has seen him up his usual schooner intake from 9 standard Boag Premiums each night to 23 Hahn Superdrys, while also finding time to not let the grog show on the waistline.
“I don’t know how he does it to be honest. Even on the low-carbs I’m starting to look a lot more like ROVE Peter than serious panel show Peter”
