With the Liberal Party still licking their wounds after losing the seat of Wentworth in the history-making by-election last month, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has today been forced to confront a new thorn in his side.
That is, possibility of finally losing the seat of Dickson altogether, after North Brisbane’s golden boy Paul Fatty Vautin announced his plans to run against Peter Dutton as an independent.
Even as Home Affairs Minister, Peter Dutton barely won back his seat in the 2016 election, narrowly getting over the line by a matter of 3000 votes, 1.5% of his electorate.
Vautin, who is looking for something new to do after the discontinuation of the Channel 9 NRL Footy Show, says he will be running on a simple ‘don’t be a fuckwit’ platform – meaning he’ll pretty much be saying and doing exactly the opposite as Peter Dutton for the next six months.
“People keep asking me If I’m gonna pull a Meninga” says Vautin.
“But I think I’ll stick at it long enough to finish this interview”
“Also, I’ll try my best not to direct government funding towards my wife’s childcare centres”
Jokes aside, however, the news has rattled the Coalition Government to the core – with one party outsider saying pretty much anyone with a decent set of eyebrows could take this thing off the failed future Prime Minister.
