After the below average start to the Betoota Dolphins season, reserve grade captain coach Jayden Thompson is pleading with his team to “show some fucking ticker.”
At half time during their Round 6 game against the Diamantina Devils, Thompson attempted a rousing speech.
“Boys, I don’t give a fuck what that score board says right now. It’s nil all as far as we are concerned. We go out there, and show some fucking ticker, and we win this half alright boys? We don’t concede anymore tries.”
Hooker Ben Simpson said that he cringed during the whole speech, and made sure to stare at the field whilst toying with the strapping on his hand.
“Maaaate, he loves bringing that one out. Whenever we cop a solid flogging, he gives us the half time have some pride in this jersey spiel.”
“Like obviously we have pride in this jersey but those blokes are just way better than us. They have a couple of ex Q-Cup boys and train three times a week I think.”
The Dolphins went on to concede another 28 points in the second half before scoring a late consolation try.
Thompson said that the effort today was “bloody appalling.”
“We have blokes like Bluey on the sideline today. Guys who played 300 games for this club, and these boys let em down real bad,” he said.
