The Prime Minister has today learnt that you can’t cage a lion for too long before it roars.
That lion of course is his neighbour and fellow Sutherland Liberal, Craig Kelly MP.
After a gruelling 72 hours of refraining from peddling unverified medical treatments on his Facebook page, Craig Kelly MP is back with a vengeance.
Not even a full week since he was dragged into the Prime Minister’s office and ordered to back the public health advice provided to his government by experts, the former furniture salesman has returned to the news feed demanding more research into a treatment for hair lice – ivermectin – and hydroxychloroquine.
It seems the Prime Minister’s polite requests for the rogue suburban MP to tone it down have fallen on deaf ears, as Craig Kelly seems to be more concerned with vindicating himself after an embarrassing hallway confrontation with Tanya Pilbersek in Parliament last week.
“Someone please forward to Tanya” the far-right conspiracist wrote on one his newest Facebook posts.
As more of the factional coalition backbenchers pop their heads up to support Kelly’s right to spread misinformation, questions are now beginning to surround the strength of leadership within the Morrison government.
However, many inside the party say that this all above aboard and the Prime Minister isn’t too upset by the defiance, since Craig Kelly was given permission by Rupert Murdoch to go over his bosses head on this.
Both Sky News and the NewsCrop papers have been baiting Craig Kelly throughout the week by interviewing quack doctors and providing weight to tinfoil theories being spread by the deranged Liberal MP.
In true Liberal-under-siege mentality, Kelly has opted to blame the powerless lobby group GetUp for any criticism directed his way – as he continues to align himself with Pete Evans and similarly drug-fucked hippies with big social media followings.
Morrison has not commented on this blatant defiance of his orders, and will likely pretend he never said anything moving forward. In the same way he is now pretending he never asked China to apologise for that repugnant meme they posted about SAS war crimes.
