Local man, Dave Bayliss wasn’t so sure how he felt about International Women’s Day yesterday.
“I just think it’s a waste of time” he said.
“It’s a whole day dedicated to putting women before men, regardless of their character or abilities”
“It’s not very helpful”
As an upper middle-class white male, Dave knows that everything he has achieved has nothing to do with his gender or race. He says it all comes down to hard work, and impressing the right people at the right barbecues at your dad’s house.
“All the radio and tv stations, were dominated by only female presenters yesterday. That’s just ridiculous”
“Most of them have limited experience in those roles, and probably wouldn’t ever be there if it wasn’t for International Women’s Day”
“Luckily it’s only one day”
With the pink balloons and ribbons now removed from the break room in his accounting firm, and the airwaves returned to the majority of males presenters, Dave says he is feeling more empowered than ever before.
“I’m just glad we can be recognized again”
“I’m feeling bold and sassy. I’m ready to slay”
With Kings Of Leon playing on repeat, Dave says being a man is something that no one should be ashamed about.
“I didn’t ask to be a man. It shouldn’t be something I have to consider for 24 hours a year”
