A upper class Sydney resident from the gentrified suburb of Balmain is today beside herself with excitement.
Because, this run of the mill Thursday, is the day Lily Field circled in the calendar a long long time ago.
“I can’t believe Hamilton is finally here,” said the excitable Art Gallery Curator who lives in a renovated old sandstone 4 bedder that’s worth more than half a small regional NSW town.
Hamilton the musical, is the more highbrow version of The Book Of Mormon, and has taken the ‘world’ by storm since its Broadway debut a few years ago.
Despite the fact people outside of the inner city, apart from maybe, an amateur theatre organiser wouldn’t even know what the fuck Hamilton was, Lily Field says Sydney securing the rights to the musical is as big as it gets.
“It’s such a coup for this city, and great for the night life,” explained the woman about to swirl red wine at a theatre inside a casino building.
“It’s so fun, so vibrant, so different you know,” laughed Field.
“You know, because they have such a diverse, um, cast of people,” laughed the closet Liberal voter who is way to excited about a musical theatre production about some of America’s founding fathers.
“All of the slave owner stuff about some of the people it’s based on is kind of bad I guess, but it’s still a hell of show.”
