One of the nation’s greatest exports has revealed he’s been snubbed by the Motion Picture Academy once again after putting in a performance worthy of the industry’s top gong.

Michael Caton, who’s been an actor for ages, explained he went into the production of Rams, a story about some sheep he did with friend and co-star Samuel Neil, thinking this might be the one to finally net him an Oscar nomination.

“I guess that’s just life,” he said.

“You know, ever since big Geoffrey got one for Shine, all of us learned it was possible to make a movie here and for it to be recognised in America,”

“But yeah, look. It’s a tough pill to swallow but it does hurt, yes, to be snubbed by the Academy yet again. I thought Rams was my ticket out of this hell hole. But then again, I thought that bloody flick I made with Paul Hogan, Strange Bedfellows was going to get me the gong. You know how many times I had to pash Paul in that movie? 60! And they didn’t even use one take. It was all for nothing,”

“There’s always next year.”

The Advocate reached out to the Motion Picture Academy for comment but have yet to receive a reply.

More to come.
