The blokes from Powderfinger and the other organisers behind the iconic Splendour In The Grass arts and music festival have finally announced this year’s highly-anticipated lineup.
Headlining this year’s lineup is Childish Gambino, Chance The Rapper, SZA, Foals and James Blake.
This year, however, there has been a specific focus on Australian talent. with POND, Thelma Plum, Ruby Fields, Matt Corby, Dean Lewis, Dope Lemon, What So Not, Courtney Barnett and many more to play throughout the week
Furthermore to this emphasis on homegrown artists, the organisers have decided that 2019 in the year that Western Australia will really shine – with both POND and Tame Impala locked in for the extra-long weekend.
However, as will be the case with Coachella later this month, Tame Impala have demanded that all Perth-based artists be treated to ‘Western Embassy’ – in the shape of a VIP marquee that serves only Emu Expert and Little Creatures – as well as an array of Margaret River wines – complete with bar staff fluent in Dutch creole.
Splendour organisers say that the contractual obligation to include an Emu Export tent has been budgeted for, and it is their aim to make the Westerners feel as at home as possible in the North Byron Parklands.
“We don’t want any culture clashes” says event organiser Adrielle Gramb.

There is also a yet to be announced ‘Mystery Oz Artist’ on the bill that is beginning to create whispers.
However, with this year’s focus on Western Australia, many believe it may be iconic cult-rock band Jebediah making a return to the East.
