Just when we thought The Prime Minister may be able to turn around the nation’s perception of how women are treated within the Liberal Party, it appears that Morrison has taken a mighty slide backwards, after engaging in a school yard brand of politics with a growing all-female faction on the crossbench.
With the arrival of Kerryn Phelps in Parliament on Monday, and then Tuesday’s defection of Julia Banks, the House of Representatives crossbench has become the centre of attention, and appear to be making life hard for Scott Morrison and his government.
Banks’ decision to leave the party sends a devastating message to voters that the Liberal Party is hostile to women. It’s an issue that Morrison is eager to resolve after learning that Bill Shorten is somehow being viewed as a feminist icon when placed in comparison to him.
However, by referring to the female crossbench MPs as ‘The Plastics’ – Morrison may have undone any progress made over the last few days by gifting Julia Banks an ironing board on Wednesday, and ploughing through the entire discography of Beyoncé Knowles last night.
“I call these unhelpful wreckers the plastics”
“Hands up anyone who can say they’ve been personally victimised by Julia Banks” said the Prime Minister during Question Time.
After being met with a show of hands from the increasingly irrelevant and highly threatened all male far-right faction of the Liberal Party, Morrison appeared content in his declaration that The Plastics are just trying to stab ceaser.
At time of press, Scott Morrison was seen leaving Parliament House in his comcar while shouting that he wanted his pink shirt back from Julia Banks.
