The rains currently battering the eastern seaboard have been a cause for great celebration for the nation’s scaffolders today.
The predominantly Kiwi-Australian industry says that the current weather pattern is mean, as is the suggestion to now spend the rest of the day in a pub watching horses race on television as well as reruns of famous rugby union matches on Fox Sports day time TV.
As the rains make their way inland, a Betoota-based scaffolding company, Silver Fern Scaff, has decided to enact the golden rule of a life on the steel battens.
“WET STEEL NO DEAL!” shouts one of the foremen, as the entire worksite is immediately overtaken by the deafening sound of metal tools dropping to the floor.
“Shot” says one local Auckland-Australian named Dominic to his colleague Ashley.
“This weather is mean as, bro”
Ashley responds.
“Hard”
Dominic then makes the suggestion, that seeing most of their partners are at work and their kids are at school, it might be an idea to head down to the nearby tavern and tip a few.
“Hard” says the entire worksite in unison.
“First ones on me” says the foreman, who is thinking of joining as well.
“Churr” says the entire worksite in unison.
