A groundbreaking report has today confirmed a long held theory: The Australian male’s inability to resist an ear worm when holding a cold blue can.

Speaking from the backyard of the Hilder residence, local bloke Riley Hilder told us that it’s physically impossible for him to enjoy a Tooheys New without humming the iconic jingle that he hasn’t been able to shake since first hearing it.

“I think it’s physiologically impossible for him not to do it,” laughed one of the boys, Petey.

“Honestly, you could put a shock collar on him and tell him not to do it, and it wouldn’t stop him from cranking ‘I feel like a tooooheyssss or twoooooo’ (sic).”

“It’s muscle memory”

After arriving at his mate’s place for the weekly Friday afternoon ritual of beer, skittles and low quality banter, Riley says this week was a bit different.

“Blue cans” he whispered.

“That’s when the jingle started ringing through my head. Like a phone alarm.”

“Actually like a fire alarm.”

“It’s a reminder that the little things in life stay with you, you know.”
“The little joys”
“Like a cold beer after a big day re-doing the back deck.”

Hilder then told the Advocate not to start him on the back and forth he’d had with Petey and the boys about his penchant for TV ad jingles.

“They know it as well. They were humming it too”

“Some things you can’t unhear. Like lucky you’re with AAMI… Or the reading writing hotline”
