A Brisbane-based hospitality and gaming business-owner has shocked patrons at his inner-city pub today, by revealing that he’s actually not actually from the Northern Territory and doesn’t work as a cattle grazier.
Prominent Albion pub owner, Chandler Tully-Ferrier (56) says he’s more of a city boy, but, as he likes to point out, that’s not too far from being a country boy when you are talking about Brisbane.
However, this doesn’t explain why he’s dressed like someone who has dropped his kid’s homework off to the postbox on the outskirts of Tennant Creek.
“Nah I own this place mate” says Chandler, who’s voice immediately to a more rural and laconic dialect after being asked if he was from the bush.
“Got a few mates out there though. Doing it bloody tough right now as well… With all that bloody…”
Chandler quickly looks at his iPhone, before continuing.
“Lack of rain” he says
While Chandler claims to have done ‘a bit of jackarooing’ as a young fella, during a one week trip to Kingaroy at a mate’s cousins place – he actually doesn’t own any cattle – unless you count the 500 gram rump steaks currently on the menu in the bistro.
“I can take you roo-shooting too” he says.
“Wanna have a crack at Big Red? [hahaha]”
At time of press, Chandler was polishing his riding boots with an oily rag that he pulled from his back pocket – while smoking a champion ruby rollie which he chose to ash on the knee of his jeans.
“How many mils did we get last night?” he wonders aloud, while staring at the green grass outside.
“Hope they got some in the Isa”
