Triple J’s music director Richard Kingsmill has shared his secret on how to stay young forever during a sit-down, tell-all interview with The Advocate’s weekend lift-out, In The Lignum.

The 55-year-old told our resident music reporter that he harvests precious stem cells from left over bong water from when the Dune Rats last visited his ABC studios in Sydney.

“I keep it frozen at home,” said the privately-educated Aquarius.

“So it stays fresh. So I can stay cool forever! Stem cells are what keep my both mon visage and mon taste in music so fresh.”

Laughing as he recounted the story of how he came to be in possession of six litres of highly-turbid Dune Rats bong water, Kingsmill said it was a fluke that lead him to discover that it was packed to the brim with the building blocks of life.

“After everyone had left for the day, I was walking around the studios when I found a Maximus bottle bong under a seat in reception,” he said.

“I looked around to make sure nobody was looking, then I took a swig.”

Then, Richard says, he felt the effects of the potent bong water almost straight away.

“Everything became so clear,”

“Ocean Alley is making a career out of being a less problematic version of Sticky Fingers. It’s OK to know absolutely nothing about rugby league but still wear a Rabbitohs hat. You can be born before the introduction of decimal currency and like Lil Peep’s music at the same time, nothing wrong with that,”

“So I kept on drinking it.”

Richard Kingsmill’s full interview is available in tomorrow’s The Weekend Advocate lift-out, In The Lignum.

More to come.
