US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner says he “did not collude” with the Russian government, despite having roughly four encounters with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign and presidential transition.
Mr Kushner, has said that his contact with Russian officials was only really at ‘gathos’ he had hosted with a ‘few different peeps’ during the during the campaign and the presidential transition.
Mr Kushner says he can’t really remember much but there were a few guys wearing ushankas (Russian-style fur hats) at a few social outings he attended leading into the US election, but can’t really remember because it was a while ago and he was drinking vodka at the time.
“There were a few people there. It wasn’t like a full on meeting or party, it was more of a gatho”
“I can’t really remember hey. I remember maybe someone saying Putin was there but yeah I can’t recall”
“We tried to keep the numbers down so it wasn’t that big or anything. Ivanka had a few friends there and stuff too”
Mr Kushner faces two days of closed-door questioning from Congress this week as US politicians try to determine whether Mr Trump’s campaign enlisted Russia’s help to win the White House in last year’s election.
