Waleed Aly is urging Australians to pressure state premiers around the country into joining the push for a national ban on single-use aluminium cooking trays, in his newest campaign against things that aren’t exactly recyclable.

Samoan, Tongan, Cook Islander, Maori and even Filipino communities have been today urged to steer towards cooking with re-usable Tupperware, as Waleed Aly announces his newest cause.

“First it was the milk” he said.

“Then it was the plastic bag”

“Then there was like 300 segments I did on ISIS”

“Now it’s the after-church cook up”

In The Project co-host’s most recent Something We Should Talk About segment, Aly called for support to be thrown behind a Change.org petition launched in collaboration with Clean Up Australia that challenges NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and WA Premier Mark McGowan to join other states in banning the retail use of disposable cooking trays, specifically at Pacific Islander after-church functions.

Waleed says that while he recognises Taro and a whole variety of other vegetables and meats are delicious when grilled together in the tray, the rise in mean spreads is alarming”

“Australia goes through close to 1 billion al-foil trays each Sunday in South Brisbane alone” he says.

“Please like and share this video and see if it can go viral”

“Also please use this hashtag that my producers spent 3 hours coming up with, #BanTheMeanSpread”
