Police threw the book at a local carpenter this morning after they caught him transporting an uncovered load of empty food and beverage containers on Henry Lawson Drive in Betoota Hights.

John-Wan Tabadgery, a 28-year-old carpenter, (who came to local fame in 2011 for accidental reversing over Mayor Keith Carton’s beloved dachshund, Middy, at the Betoota Small Farm Field Days) allegedly told police he didn’t realise he had to cover a load of that size.

But according to police, every load no matter how big or small, needs to be covered.

Tabadgery spoke briefly to our reporter this afternoon outside the Lang Road Police Station in Betoota Heights where young John-Wan had just finished making a formal complaint.

“The only thing I had in the tray of my FUCKING Amarok was my lunch,” he said quite loudly.

“A tube of FUCKING Pringles and an empty can of Dr Pepper!”

“Since when does that need to be covered?! God! And the worst part is, they told me if I want to take it any further, they said they’d see me in court! I haven’t got time for that! $400 and three demerit points! Fuck you!”

Our reporter reached out to the Betoota Heights Police for comment and have been told they don’t comment on individual cases.

Mr Tabadgery is set to fight the matter in court on April 14.

More to come.
