Toxic Masculinity, what is it? and what causes it?
That’s what several of Betoota’s brightest scientists from the Diamantina CSIRO have put their minds to, after receiving state Government funding to explore this phenomena further.
However, it appears one of the leading causes has been sitting on top of the fridge right in front of us.
In psychology, the term toxic masculinity is used to refer to certain norms of masculine behavior in Western Societies that are associated with harm to society and to men themselves. Traditional stereotypes of men as socially dominant, along with related traits such as misogyny and homophobia, can be considered “toxic” due to their promotion of violence. Scholars argue that the socialization of boys often normalizes violence, such as in the saying “boys will be boys” with regard to bullying and aggression.
However, our local scientists say that every single behavioural flaw of Australian men is not only highlighted but exagerated by a commonly-ingested dark alcoholic spirit known as ‘Sugarcane Champagne’.
“What we have found is that if someone is a fuckwit, this stuff will really bring it to the surface” said lead researcher, Professor Annastaccia Bligh.
“And furthermore, any polite gentlemen that may actually be closeted brawlers will also present themselves after a few blackrats. Meaning, that drama, and often violence is almost always present with or without fuckwits”
“We believe up to 74% of any physical confrontation in this country is caused by the dark stuff”
“As is blokes revealing secrets. It also makes them very gossipy, similar to the affect Vodka Cruisers has on women”
