A local woman has today raised eyebrows in her family and friendship circles after revealing a peculiar consumer trait.
Billie Aisling from Betoota Heights, the display home capital of the Channel Country, revealed this week that she actually gets her daily coffee from Starbucks.
This comes despite being a resident in a country of over 27,000 coffee shops, with a decent coffee being made by an independent retailer on almost every street corner.
The strange move to attach her flag to the mast of the giant American conglomerate that sells overpriced and over sized coffee has since caused consternation amongst her inner and outer circle.
“What the fuck? Why?” asked one of Billie’s friends after the otherwise normal woman suggested they go get coffee from Starbucks.
“There’s like 3 good cafe’s within walking distance that make way better and cheaper coffee,” laughed her friend.
The regional woman at the centre of the controversy says she never really thought too deeply about her behaviour.
“I just tried it when I was a teen and kind of never looked back,” laughed Aisling.
However, that comment has not been accepted by those around Aisling.
“Nah, it’s only acceptable when you are overseas in a country where it’s nearly impossible to get a decent coffee – or you need wifi/a toilet,” laughed another one of her friends.
“If you are gonna go for a chain coffee at least go to like Zaraffas or something.”
“Get your cream and cinnamon and caramel hit with your 500 mls of milk that way.”
Aisling has informed The Advocate that she will contemplate the advice, but will likely just stick with what she knows best.
“Snobs,” she laughed.
“Fuck em.”
