The NRL has called for drastic new measures to be implemented today, in an attempt to combat the extended run of off-field indiscretions.
Following a horror off-season where the game’s players have repeatedly been unable to steer clear of trouble, NRL CEO Todd Greenberg has explained there will be some form of intervention.
The games boss announced at a press conference this afternoon that ever single player contracted to the NRL will be given a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2, and a console to play it on if required.
Greenberg explained that he hopes the extremely popular game can go some way towards stemming the tide of bad publicity.
“This whole debacle has gone too far,” Greenberg said today.
“These morons need something to keep them occupied, and when they’ve got a solid few months away from a regular season, you can see quite clearly how prone they are to acting up.”
“If I’m honest, the best solution would be a 51 week season, but for obvious reasons we aren’t allowed to do that, so we need to improvise.”
Greenberg explained that by coercing the players into wanting to spend their free time playing Red Dead 2 he hopes it will keep them out of trouble.
“If that doesn’t work I’m quitting and just waiting until a job at the FFA or something opens up.”
