Local inner-city leftie Byle Flush (29) says that he knows there’s a lot more to be outraged about right now, but he still can’t get over the fact that the Sydney Opera House promoted a horse race over the weekend.
Byle says that while he has never stepped foot inside the iconic state-owned venue, he plans on finally visiting the place when Wu-Tang tour in December.
“I just feel like that experience is going to be sullied for me now.” he says.
“Watching a New York gangster rap outfit in the concert hall of a building that promotes horse races on it’s exterior.”
“Kind of ruins the experience a bit, I guess”
Even though the week has seen several politicians and other public figures make a number of crucifiable gaffes for the Twitter-sphere to pinball hot takes over, such as exploring a revised immigration intake and allowing religious freedoms in religious schools, Byle says he just can’t seem to get this Opera House thing out of his head.
“It makes me sick that the federal and state governments would allow Australia’s richest horse race which will be taking place at 4:15PM this afternoon, to advertise on the outside of an iconic cultural icon”
“What does this say about the future? Before this not even the Koori dancers could play didgeridoo next to the Opera House, that’s how culturally sacred it was!”
“Now what, we just promote horse races that will be taking place at Randwick at 4:15 PM, is that the new standard?”
“If I was in charge of the Opera House, there’s no way I’d be promoting this now famous horse race that I haven’t stopped talking about since Monday”
