Just hours after Wayne Bennett’s Rabbitohs equalled their highest-ever winning margin over the Brisbane Broncos, a number of board members at the Brisbane-based team decided it was time to redecorate the meeting room.

South Sydney, coached by former Bronco’s coach Wayne Bennett, comprehensively flogged Anthony Seibold’s New Corp-owned south-east corner boys 38 points to 6 overnight in Sydney – only a few months after the pair traded placed.

Last night’s game was set to either vindicate the Bronco’s decision to sack Bennett or the opposite of that, which is to redecorate a meeting room.

Speaking exclusively to The Advocate this morning, a member of the Bronco’s board, who asked to remain anonymous, said he and a couple other ‘boardies’ said the morning meeting started to go off the tracks, leading to the redecoration of the room.

“Seibold started it,” they said.

“We were all giving him the tongue-lashing of a lifetime, then all of a sudden he got up and threw his chair through the drywall and into the adjoining room,”

“Then it was on for young and old. We rearranged the hell out of the upstairs boardroom. Anyway, we’re looking forward to next week now.”

The Advocate reached out to South Sydney for comment but the phone is still off the hook.

More to come.
