It’s been confirmed today that the guy who likes making drum sounds on his acoustic guitar, usually through a magical loop machine at his feet, is definitely from the Sunshine Coast town of Caloundra.
Bodhi Utah, 25, was under strong suspicion of being from the coastal haven north of Brisbane, which is a breeding ground for so-called ‘happy-tappers’.
Driving his 96 Toyota Townace down to Brisbane every weekend, Bodhi can often be seen in the corners of bars across Paddington, Newstead, Teneriffe and Bulimba, tapping away for the relaxed Sunday arvo crowd.
“I fucking knew it” said Kale Gregan, a familiar face at Oxford Streets most popular Sunday Sesh.
“The servo sunnies were a dead giveaway. can play but. I love it how he makes the beat by banging his guitar. He should go on one of those TV shows. They’d eat that shit up bro”
Utah’s repertoire suits his style perfectly, with familiar hits including Eagle Eye Cherry’s ‘Save Tonight’, Ben Harper’s ‘Steal My Kisses’ plus a cracking rendition of Mumford and Sons ‘Little Lion Man’ almost always getting a little “yew!” from the beer garden.
Everything else he plays is from the Ed Sheeran songbook, making the local alpha males get a bit nervous.
