A high flying top end employee at one of Australia’s banks has confirmed today that he is facing quite the dilemna.
The 53-year-old board member at the Commonwealth Bank named William Cashman explained that he has been mulling over whether to ask for a little bonus ahead of the festive season.
Cashman told us that if was any other year (‘apart from like 2007 or 08’) he wouldn’t have even hesitated, but given the events of 2018 he is in two minds.
“I mean, it’s a tricky one. Really the protocol is that you just slide this stuff through no questions asked, however this whole Royal Commission thing hasn’t gone down that well,” Cashman said.
“It’s just, if I don’t get a bonus now, I’ll have probably have to wait until mid next year maybe,” explained the man who needs an extra few hundred thousand in the bank account for some reason.
However, the resident of Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs informed The Advocate that things might just have settled down enough to get a bonus through though.
“Yeah widespread illegal and immoral conduct has been revealed out our bank under the watch of people like me, but the headlines haven’t been that vicious for a couple of months now, so maybe it’s out of peoples minds,” he said.
“And hey, you could argue that I deserve the bonus for steering the bank through this incredibly difficult time that I caused. Realistically I probably deserve to be compensated with another investment property sized bonus for helping the company through all this bad PR.”
“Fuck it, I’ll try and get it through,” he said before asking our reporters to leave.
