Just prior to the 2013 election, the ‘tech’ tab that sat atop the ABC News website disappeared – and it’s yet to come back.
And by the sound of things, a leaked internal ABC communiqué has all but confirmed it won’t be back in time for this election.
The Advocate can reveal that the current head of the public broadcaster, Ita Buttrose, has instructed her editorial departments not to report on the unabridged tractor fire that is the National Broadband Network in a negative manner.
Buttrose was instructed to do this, according to the communiqué, by the Federal Communications Minister.
“All reporting on the NBN needs to be positive,” wrote Buttrose.
“If you want to write fake news about it, I suggest you seek alternative arrangements regarding your employment,”
“So if you’re interesting in keeping your public servant gravy train on the tracks, then I’d suggest going into bat for our various media personalities who can’t handle being called ‘a hopeless inner-city chardonnay-socialist who serves the community less than a discarded inner-city syringe’ on Twitter,”
“Thank you.”
The Advocate reached out to Mitch[ell] Fifield for comment but he was busy looking at his reflection in the mirror, asking himself if he’s proud of being such a sellout.
Malcolm Turnbull contacted The Advocate to give an unsolicited comment, but since he’s retired, his opinion is irrelevant now and he should move on with his life.
More to come.
