The ABC has finally met its 2022 diversity quotas by releasing a queer multicultural online series that they will promote if they get round to it.
Like a lot of white Australians, the ABC has a bit of a sketchy past when it comes to making fun of other cultures, leading them to diversify their perspective in the most belittling way possible.
Putting a call out into multicultural Australian communities such as western Sydney and Sydney’s west, the ABC curated a group of talented young comedians from various backgrounds and cultures, plus the white adult child of one of the higher ranking execs.
The resulting series is called Melting Potheads and explores the different societal perceptions and legal ramifications people from various backgrounds experience as a result of drug use.
Early reviews for the online series are positive, or at least would be if anyone had actually watched the show or knew it existed.
“I remember the ABC, they used to do that Gruen show,” stated Millennial Billie Plumber who has about as much use for broadcast TV as a Victorian farmer does for a wombat.
“They still do that Gruen show? Really?” Our reporting team then explained the rough premise of Melting Potheads, by proxy doing the most promotion for the series the ABC would, even if they will internally wear the production proudly like a veteran’s medals.
“An e-series? Those are still a thing? Cool. Sounds good, I’d watch it but I can’t remember my iView password, so yeah.”
Despite the ABC really doing sweet FA to promote the series, the cast of popular social media personalities are promoting the show via their online presence which the ABC claims has nothing to do with why they hired them in the first place.
