Local retired camping equipment retailer, Graham McCafferty (66) has had his heart jump-started overnight, after once again being triggered by the extroverted behaviour of Nick Kyrgios.
The 24-year-old’s 2019 US Open campaign finished up last night against Russian Andrey Rublev in the third round, losing 7-6 7-6 6-3.
The Canberra bad boy hit the ground running as the contest’s overwhelming favourite, but his opponent refused to back down and Kyrgios finished soft with questions once again raised over his effort.
No one is more riled up about this than Australia’s post-war generation of half-hearted tennis fans.
Like many Baby Boomers who are desperate to find something to be worked up about since both their plastic shopping bags and franking credits were nearly stripped from them, Graham has decided that Nick Kyrgios’s attitude problem is going to be the reason he gets up in the morning.
Graham says Kyrgios needs to respect the game of tennis and act a little bit more like some of the gentlemen that came before him.
Like Pat Cash, Mark Philippoussis and Lleyton Hewitt.
“The Poo never spoke to umpires like Kyrgios does” spits and irrate Graham, while attempting to zoom in on a news.com.au story on his iPad.
“Lleyton was rowdy. But he was never disrespectful to the linesmen!”
However, what really gets Graham’s goat more than anything, is that Kyrgios doesn’t dedicate every minute of his life outside of tennis, to tennis.
“He needs to focus. None of these video games or late nights at the pub”
“Pat Cash never carried on like that”
