Queensland billionaire Clive Palmer has a good team around him, he says, after he returned home from Sydney this week to find his favourite dinner waiting for him on the dining table.
Mr Palmer and WA Premier Mark McGowan tried to sue each other in court this year, each alleging the other defamed them.
Ultimately, the case didn’t go anywhere and the only winners were the lawyers.
Clive spoke to The Advocate today on his Port Douglas golf course where he was hosting the annual Palmer Media Golf Day.
“That was a source of sadness for me,” he said.
“The court case. It was a shame but at the same time, I’m glad it’s over. But what really cheered me up after was my personal chef cooked me up my favourite dinner,”
“The Cluck and Suck.”
A large chicken is stuffed with a small octopus and slowly roasted in the oven. Once the outside has crisped up, the dish is finished off in the microwave. Clive explained that the ‘Cluck and Suck’ has it’s origins in the Capricornia region of our state and that to get the temperature right, takes years of practice.
“I’m useless at making my own Cluck and Suck,” he said.
“The last time I made one, I accidentally put the microwave on for 150 minutes, instead of 15. I had a little nap on the couch and woke up when the smoke alarm went off. All that was left was this breathing, molten mass of matter. Stupidly, I tried to fish it out without oven mits so I dropped the microwave plate on the floor, which splattered the piping hot animal flesh all over my legs. I wasn’t wearing any shoes, either, so I cut my feet up,”
“Dreadful, it was.”
More to come.
