The NRL is launching a public communications offensive this week as the code prepares to descend on Adelaide for the State of Origin.
With a week until the greatest feat of gladiatorial combat arrives to the City of Churches, head honchos at Moore Park have reportedly flown an intern to Adelaide to get on the front foot and start canvassing the streets with a courteous letterbox drop.
Despite recently hosting the LIV tournament and the AFL’s Gather Round, South Australians are being warned of the danger of coming into contact with any wild rabid NRL fans and players, and have been told to be on the lookout for any that may stray from the arena and enter the suburbs unsupervised.
The note, which has been seen by The Advocate, has forewarned the public about the arrival of League fans who will be frothing at the mouth to witness their sporting idols decapitate each other on the field in the name of interstate hatred.
The letter reads:
Hey there,
It’s the NRL here!
We wanted to give you a little heads up that we’re hosting a bit of a gatho at the Adelaide Oval on the 31st of May.
We’re hoping to have the whole thing wrapped by 11pm, but please be on the lookout for NRL fans from NSW and QLD who might be let loose on the streets before and after the event.

The Advocate understands the NRL is also planning on transporting a B-double truck carrying several cages that will sit out the front of the Hindley Street police station should any players or fans need to be detained post-midnight.
