Australia’s top order are bracing themselves for a tough time after seeing the pitch that curators in India are serving up.
With the much anticipated first test in Nagpur now less than 24 hours away, Australia’s front line batsman have been given a look at the pitch that they will be treated to as tourists.
Traditionally a very difficult place to play cricket if you are a touring team, the Australians are hoping to win a series in India for the first time since 2004.
With a stacked batting line up, the Australian team are reportedly confident of breaking the hoodoo.
However the pitch doctors in Nagpur are apparently not that keen to see that happen, after unveiling a track that looks like the middle of a parched desert.
“Yeah, should be challenging,” explained batsman Steve Smith this afternoon after nearly rolling his ankle in a 15 centremetre crack in the ground.
“Looks like it’s going to tough conditions but we are relishing the opportunity.”
“Running might be quite difficult with cracks bigger than my foot, but we’ll just have to mind the gap.”
“Anyway, it’s the same for both teams so we’ll see how we go.”
More to come.
