Australia’s boxing fans are growing more excited by the minute as one of the greatest boxers of all time, Manny Pacquiao, touched down at about 8:30pm on Saturday night in a privately chartered jet from the Philippines.
The 11-time world champion said he is in top shape for next Sunday’s showdown at Lang Park, where he will be cheered on by his coach, family and 160 supporters from his home town – as well as all of Queensland’s Filipino-Australian community.
The world champion said he is ready to defend his WBO title against underdog Brisbane boy Jeff Horn.
“I almost feel like I will be fighting at home” says Pacquiao.
“The humidity, the overzealous police, the polluted Brisbane River. This is very similar to home. I could live here any day”
Pacquiao says after meeting the Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk ahead of the ‘Battle Of Brisbane’ – he feels like the politicians in Australia our very similar to his President Rodrigo Duterte.
“The pollution and environmental concerns are very similar”
“As is their treatment of motorcycle gangs”
