Iconic Richmond Tigers midfielder, Dustin Martin has revealed he doesn’t shy away from supersition, particularly when he’s staring down the barrel at a history-making premiership.
The 28-year-old product of Campbelltown in Sydneys wild south-west says he’s treating today’s AFL Grand Final against Greater Western Sydney at the MCG just like he would treat a scrap in the car park of Macarthur Square shopping centre.
“I’ve faced up against scarier opps than the blokes I’ll be running at today” he said.
“Have you ever met actual people from greater Western Sydney”
in 2017, the Tigers won their first premiership since the 1980s, which has raised the level of expectation to new heights for one of the AFL’s best-supported clubs.
“We just show these gronks that we are ready to ogays” says dusty, as he kisses he lucky trolley pole, which he still carries in the boot of his Lancer.
“If they wanna G.O, they’ll find a blue here”
This isn’t the first time ‘Dusty’ has made headlines with the Betoota Advocate, in 2015 he was praised for his proud cultural ties to the areas of Campbelltown and Castlemaine with his controversial ‘war dance’.
In 2016 he stole the show at the annual Brownlow Medal with his ‘hectic’ Nike TN footwear.
The AFL Grand Final is currently underway, with kick off at 2:30pm
