As the only students older than them are now in the Gold Coast learning that the things that make adulthood the most appealing are also the things that make it the most depressing, Australian year 11 students are not quite sure where they stand.

At the time or reporting, up to 79% of Australian year 11 students aren’t sure if they are in year 12 like their teachers say they are or in year 11 which is what they started the year as.
“They tell us we’re in year 12, but they’ve also told us we are adults and that trigonometry might one day be useful,” stated year 11 student Claire Jessup (17).
“I don’t know what to believe other than there is no way I’m reading the prescribed texts over the holidays.”
According to some teachers, the group of students are in year 12 and according to others, they will be in year 12 when they start behaving like it, despite the fact that really doesn’t make sense.
