Finally, after years of fear and doubt around humanity’s ability to save itself, there is some good news on climate change.
It now looks as though the globe may be able to achieve Net Zero, and not by 2050, but by 2030!
The incredible news comes after everyone you follow on Instagram posts a story of their pet on the platform.
The trend has resulted in millions of people posting a photo of their cute ‘doggo, pupper or cuddly cat,’ on their IG stories, with planet earth now breathing a sigh of relief.
If you aren’t on the platform, it involves posting a story with a picture of your pet and whacking some sticker on there that says a tree will be planted for the post.
Started by a company called Plant A Tree Co, it’s hoped that nearly all of Instagram’s 1 billion users will get on board.
While hopes are high, Plant A Tree Co have since deleted their post, presumably because they can’t afford to source and plant tens of millions of trees.
However, despite that, it can be confirmed that everyone who posted a photo of their pet will somehow result in a tree being planted, by someone, somewhere.
The example of social media activism with tangible benefits has yet to be acknowledged by our floundering global leaders, who are also yet to post pictures of their pets.
More to come…
