In a shocking turn of events, an international student has arrived at South Betoota Polytechnic and is demanding basic respect and value for their degree. The student, who has asked to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation, says that they are tired of being treated like a cash cow by the university.
“I came here with the expectation of a quality education, but instead I’ve been met with shoddy facilities and uninterested staff,” the student said. “It’s not just about the lack of dignity – it’s about the fact that my degree is worthless.”
The student’s claims have sent shockwaves through the university, with many students coming forward with similar stories.
“I’ve been here for years and I still feel like I’m not getting my money’s worth,” said one student. “It’s like they don’t care about us at all. There are people in my course that can’t even speak English. Which probably doesn’t matter in accounting but this is a history degree.”
In response to the allegations, a spokesperson for South Betoota Polytechnic issued a statement saying that they take the concerns of their students seriously.
“The South Betoota Polytechnic would like to assure its valued international students that we take their concerns with utmost gravity and are committed to providing a comprehensive and equitable education experience. We are cognizant of the unique challenges that international students face and recognize that their academic endeavors must be met with unyielding support and collaboration. Our institution remains steadfast in its efforts to implement best practices in pedagogy and student services, ensuring that every student’s learning outcomes are optimized to the fullest extent possible. The concerns raised by our international students are of paramount importance to us, and we pledge to continue our efforts to enhance their academic and social well-being, so that they may attain their full potential and emerge as well-rounded global citizens. We encourage our students to avail themselves of the various resources at their disposal, such as our international student services office, which provides a plethora of programs and initiatives to facilitate their academic and personal growth.”
However, the statement did little to appease the student, who says that they feel like they’re not being taken seriously.
“It’s like they’re just paying lip service to our concerns,” they said.
“I want to see real change, not just empty promises. But, we’re dealing with an Australian university and I’m of Asian appearance so guess what, they couldn’t give a fuck!”
