After a pretty full-on few days, a local steroid abuser turned NSW Police Officer has today treated himself to a little bit of self-indulgence.
Following some scrutiny for the behaviour of his colleagues, stemming from a clear culture which perpetuates behaviour like slamming a defenceless 17-year-old Indigenous teen on the ground, Sydney CBD Police Area Senior Constable Paul Wilson has today cheered himself up by hassling some homeless people.
The popular downtime activity for NSW Police involves finding some people with nowhere to go, who have been allowed to fall through the cracks of the system, and moving them on or arresting them for a bit of fun.
Wilson, explained to us that it’s one of his favourite activities to do around the City, making sure homeless people are moved off high foot traffic areas.
“It’s actually one of those fun housekeeping jobs you know,” explained Wilson this afternoon enjoying a 7/11 Coffee and a Strawberry Swirl Krispy Creme.
“And after a pretty shit week, where we’ve been called out for our poor behaviour which often goes unfilmed and unchecked by other colleagues due to a misplaced emphasis on comradery and mateship, it was nice to kind take my mind off things,” he said smudging the icing on his chin.
“It’s been really mean how people have been kind of staring at me and profiling me for the way I look, and I’m really over it,” continued the young man who went straight to Goulbourn after school and was dropped immediately into the city with limited experience.
“And I didn’t feel like picking up any of the cases that are in the too hard basket today, so I just popped down into the city and decided to clean up the streets a bit.”
“What a week!” he finished.
