A battle weary woman has today started considering a life as a spinster after finding herself engaging in small talk yet again.
Penny Fitzgerald [29] is alleged to have gotten into dating apps in the last few months, reporting that most of the time, she finds herself chatting to someone for a few days and then never hearing from them again.
“It’s a bit of a struggle”, admits Penny, “I have a feeling I’m not the only one fatigued by these apps.”
Going on to explain in detail, Penny tells our reporter that it makes her feel even worse when promising dates fail to work out, seeing as the process to get to that point feels like a full time job.
“For every fifty matches you might get a 40% chat rate, which then halves again as people tend to drop off mid conversation.”
“Something I’m guilty of doing as well, if I find the conversation too dry.”
“It really is so tiring answering one line texts about my hobbies, job or what I did on the weekend.”
“But then of course, that’s what I usually ask matches too, as there’s not much else you can say to someone you’ve never met before, is there?”
“And then you have to deal with all the horrible messages. It’s really quite fascinating how someone can segue the compliment ‘great ass’ into a conversation about taste in music.’
Letting out a sigh as she wearily rubs her eyes, Penny says she isn’t sure if she has much more fuel left in the tank, adding that she wishes she didn’t pressure herself to use these apps and that she could just meet someone organically.
“I feel like I need to be in it to win it but I just don’t want to anymore.”
More to come.
