A mother in law who managed to wrangle her way into the delivery room with promises that she would ‘behave herself’, has unfortunately not stuck to her word, managing to become a nuisance within minutes of entering.
Sue Hanneman [56] is said to have effectively guilted her daughter in law Jen into letting her become a spectator during one of the most vulnerable moments of her life, which she did so by repeatedly whinging to her son about ‘how much it would mean to her.’
“Please babe, I promise you won’t even know she’s there”, Jason had pleaded to his exhausted wife, “it’s the birth of her first grandson, she needs to be there.”
“She’s getting old babe.”
Finally agreeing on having Sue there under the condition that she would stand to the side and be quiet, Jen unfortunately learned the hard way that someone known for being loud and meddlesome wasn’t going to magically behave just because she asked her to.
“Are you sure you need an epidural, I didn’t have one”, said Sue, “the needle is very long you know.”
“Jason, can you get me some choccy from the vending machine? I’m feeling faint.”
Placing her hand on Jen’s ankle as she peers under the sheet, an excited Sue informs her she’s crowning.
“OOOH I can see the head! Puuuuuush PUUUUUUSH.”
“PUSH HARDER JEN!”
“Oh Jen, is that language really appropriate?”
“OOOHHHHH”
“Isn’t he perfect? Looks just like Jason.”
“Yes, just hand him over to me.”
“Mama looks exhausted!”
