As these fundraising packs seem to be the only way for Aussies to get their hands on a jumbo Caramello Koala, these fundraisers are usually a hit, even if mum is usually forced to buy all the unsold stock the night before the money is due back.
However, Betoota junior soccer club, the Betoota Roos, has decided to hit ‘go’ on the chocolate fundraiser right now as the whole town is dealing with post-Easter choccy withdrawals.
“That’s $5 thanks,” stated one Betoota Roo, holding a box that suggests an RRP of $1.
The need to pay with coins has meant that Betoota banks have had to put a temporary freeze on cash withdrawals, making many local granddads smug about keeping all their change in a jar since 1953.
“Will you take an old paper note?” asked one granddad joyously.
“The paper ones are better, trust me.”
“Don’t try and unload one of the ones with a bit of burst caramel on your old granddad won’t you?”
