EFFIE BATEMAN Lifestyle Contact

Sitting in the freezing Betoota Heights public library next to her uni classmate and crush, Josh Goldstein, local woman Harriet Chamberlain finds herself coming up with a genius idea.

She has been presented with an ample opportunity to forge physical contact, which will only be deemed as ‘flirtatious’ if Josh responds the way she hopes he does.

Akin to her other favourite tactic, which was slowly shifting her thigh to rest against a person and seeing if they pulled away, finding a way to touch hands is undoubtedly one of the most innocently intimate things a person can do. A rather cute little human courtship, that doesn’t render the initiator too embarrassed if it doesn’t work out.

Worst case scenario, Josh may lightly feel her outstretched hand and go back to his work. Best case, he holds it a few seconds too long with his hand, while his eyes meet her in a questioning gaze.

But she’s getting ahead of herself.

“Brrr it’s so cold”, says Harriet, rubbing her hands together, “my hands are FREEZING.”

“Are your hands cold too?”

Touching his hands with her finger icicles, Harriet is beyond pleased when he responds by agreeing that her hands ‘are like ice’, and enthusiastically starts rubbing them together like he’s starting a fire.

Success.

More to come.
