In some breaking news from the most cosmopolitan city in Australia, there was a little bit going on this weekend.
This comes following a bumper weekend to wrap up Mad March in Melbourne, which saw a veritable smorgasbord of events being hosted across the city.
While there were the customary games of Victorian Leg Tennis played to packed crowds across three days this weekend, the city also hosted a Food and Wine Festival, sell out theatre shows, and what seems like a hundred or so comedy performances every single night. Not to mention a pretty intense and memorable F1 race.
With just one of these events enough to bring other cities to a standstill, Melbourne as a city has confirmed it’s been at full tilt.
Locals and tourists alike have admitted to The Advocate that it’s been a pretty big few days.
“Yeah, I’m blowing smoke this morning,” laughed one northerner who lived it up down south this weekend.
“Productivity levels are going to be off the charts today.”
“It’s almost like the self-proclaimed events capital of the country is in fact the events capital of the country.”
“But don’t tell em I said that, cause they’ll get a big head,” laughed the proud and parochial Queenslander.
