The city of Sydney has well and truly outdone themselves this week, as news spreads of a swanky new restaurant called ‘Home’, which has a pretty interesting concept.

According to Broadsheet media, the owner of this new Marrickville edition, Tim Garett says he wanted to ‘offer patrons the experience of being home again’, by cultivating a space that operates similar to staying in on the weekend, but with the splash of excitement of being surrounded by lots of people – kind of ‘house party’ meets ‘uni sharehouse’ as Garett puts it.

“There’s just something special about a house party vibe”, says Garrett, ‘but we’ve realised a lot of people in Sydney simply don’t have the space available to have more than a few guests over.”

“Home” gives patrons the authentic house party experience. We’ve got multiple barbecues people can book, fridges of beer to purchase, old chesterfield couches and ping pong tables.”

“It’s exciting, and it’s real.”

Showing our reporter what appears to be the bottom level of a terrace house, Garrett explains that patrons are expected to cook, bartend and ‘chip in with the cleaning’, because that’s just what a good mate does.

“I think people are ultimately crying out for connection, and unlike other bars, ‘Home’ provides the perfect backdrop for strangers to become friends.”

“I expect it’ll be quite the popular joint.”

More to come.
