Former NRL star Paul Gallen has only further clarified to the world that he has what it takes to physically and mentally incapacitate middle-aged men with his closed fists, after knocking out former world champion Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Browne last night in the first round of their long-awaited heavyweight bout in Wollongong.
The 42-year-old Browne, a former Australian heavyweight champ, put in such an underwhelming performance that boxing commentators, including Aussie legend Barry Michael, have openly told the media that they think he should quit.
Big Daddy was put on his arse by the former Cronulla Sharks captain in a first round knockout that lasted just 1min and 55 seconds, in a spectacular card put on by boxing promoter George ‘The Black Dan White’ Rose.
Paul Gallen is now 11-1-0, having not yet lost one of the 12 fights he’s been in. Six of which have ended with a TKO.
Last night all but confirmed that the 105kg ball of white boy muscle has what it takes to fuck up even some of Australia’s most decorated heavyweights, by punching at their brains as hard as he can until they turn off.
The fight ended last night with a spectacular brain punch, which Gallen landed to the top of Browne’s right temple.
This may be Gallen’s most brutal knock-out since he monstered a 45-year-old John Hopoate in 2019, in a match so brutal that Hoppa was honestly convinced he’d never gotten in the ring.
Gallen has also proven that Australian boxers don’t necessarily need a nickname to cement themselves in the history books, with Paul “Gal” Gallen working just fine for him.
It is not yet known who the Rose boys have lined up for Gallen’s next fight, but the Betoota Advocate would love to see a Gal vs Fuifui Moimoi live from Teufaiva Sport Stadium in the Tongan capital of Nukuʻalofa.
It can be marketed as “The Pile-On On The Island” – with Jason Taumalolo vs Ben Hannant on the undercard.
