Our national football team has today had a huge win, with confirmation that some heavy artillery could be at their disposal in the near future.
Fresh off beating the UAE to progress to the next stage of World Cup Qualifying, it’s been revealed that Socceroos legend John Aloisi could be coming out of retirement.
The man responsible for the most iconic footballing moment in our history has confirmed that he will answer the call, and make himself available for next Tuesday’s match with Peru.
The matchup is another do-or-die clash for the Socceroos, with the winner of the match against the South American team jetting off to Qatar in a few months’ time for the World Cup.
With the nation now a little too used to being a part of the World Cup, fairweather fans have reportedly been shocked to learn that we aren’t just automatically plugged into the biggest sporting event in the world.
So, in hopes of replicating that fateful November night in Homebush 17 years ago, former striker John Aloisi is set to start up top.
“I’m ready to go,” said the 46-year-old who is emerging from a pretty sizeable stint in retirement.
“I’ll try bang a couple in normal time against these Peruvians”
“But obviously if it goes all the way and it comes down to penalties”
“I’m ready to rocket one into the back of the net”
“The rig’s gone to slop a bit since hanging up the boots, but don’t worry, I’ll whip the shirt off and send the crowd into delirium.”

It’s believed Tim Cahill, Harry Kewell, and Mark Viduka are all yet to respond to their invitations to come out of retirement.
