As the Rugby League fraternity begins another week of infighting and bickering, football icon Phil ‘Gus’ Gould has made a profound statement this morning.
With Channel Nine attacking the NRL, the NRL attacking Channel Nine, the Murdoch Medi empire attacking Channel Nine and the NRL, and Peter Vlandys attacking Todd Greenberg, Gus has emerged as the lucky winner from all of these skirmishes.
With the game in disarray and desperately trying to kick off again on May 28, Penrith and NSW icon Gus has emerged as a candidate to replace Todd Greenberg as the CEO of the NRL.
The famous NRL figure and descendant of the Rugby League gods, told The Advocate today that he’s not really that keen, but if he has too he’ll take the job.
“I can do a five-year plan for the NRL,” explained the Patron Saint of Penrith.
“And the first order of business will be bringing back the shoulder charge.”
“If we are gonna be playing amidst a pandemic, then we shouldn’t be losing sleep over a few rattled melons,” he explained.
“So the shoulder charge will be back, and we won’t be playing touch football anymore.”
He then hung up the phone when asked what he would be doing about the financial situation of the game.
More to come.
