Rabbitohs star Sam Burgess is today attempting to shake off his Northern English roots by embracing the culture of his retiring captain and the Dunghutti people of North New South Wales.
This follows an impressive Rabbitohs 38-6 win in which three try-scorers paid tribute to retired club legend Greg Inglis by imitating his famed ‘goanna’ celebration
In-form five-eighth Cody Walker was the first to do so, in his second try of the night at the 17th minute mark. Regathering his own grubber kick, before breaking into a ‘goanna’ celebration to the joy of his teammates.
Halfback Adam Reynolds did the same after his 27th minute intercept try while club games record-holder and prominent Bra Boy John Sutton bunged it on as well as the 76th minute and attempted a goanna.
However, one try-scorer that was not seen crawling was GI’s confidante and fellow Premiership-carrying brother-from-another-mother Sam Burgess.
Speaking to the media today, Burgess says he would have loved to have done a goanna, but he’s not confident in his moves, as big dumb white boy.
“I werd looovv tew av dun a ger-erna” said Burgess.

Although, not even 24 hours after last night’s thrashing of the Broncos, it appears Burgess is trying to make up for his lack of goanna last nigth, and has hired out an empty storage room in Souths Leagues club this afternoon – where he has reportedly been practicing the goanna for hours.
“How the fook did Reynolds do it so well?” he mutters to himself.
“I need to step up when our captern leaves fer good. I need to bercome the new GI”
“Gotdammit Sam. Fawcus!”
