Queensland has risked eighty minutes of season-ending injuries and general exhaustion to win one of three matches in this year’s Origin series, it has been confirmed.
Billy Slater of the Maroons has been named man of the match in Game 3 of the 2018 State of Origin Series at Suncorp Stadium on last night, in an explosive send-off for the Queensland great.
The Northerner took down NSW 18-12 , denying the Blues their first series whitewash in 18 years.
With intercept tries and big hits, it is not yet known why the match was taken so seriously be Queensland, after losing most of their best players to injury and retirement and already knowing that the match was dead rubber.
While arguably the most entertaining match of the series, there was still droves of people wondering why Queensland would put so many energy into a series they’ve already lost.
Many people were also wondering why there was 51,214-strong crowd at the Queensland Cauldron of Excellence last night.
“It’s because rugby league is the greatest game of all” said Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, who was painted head-to-toe in maroon.
“It’s so fucking good. Did you see Valentine’s intercept, it was much better than Turbo’s intercept. Realistically we should have won the entire series because we were the better team”
With Inglis sidelined, Slater was the last man standing from Queensland’s 2006 team that sparked their remarkable decade of dominance.
It closed the curtain on Slater’s 14 year Origin career but it seems Cherry- Evans’ is about to pivot into the playmaker role that has been reserved for him for the last five years.
