SOMEBODY PINCH MICHAEL CATON, because he still thinks he’s dreaming.

“When the bastards ask me what I’m wearing, I tell ’em Tarocash of Strathpine.” laughs Caton.

The 72-year-old arrived in Los Angeles yesterday ahead of the 88th Academy Awards, where his latest film The Last Cab To Darwin, has been nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.

It’s not the only Aussie film up for contention this evening, with George Miller’s latest Mad Max offering up for a swathe of gongs.

“Acting is is 10% brains and 95% muscle, the rest is just good luck,” laughed Caton, who spent nearly an hour rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s most famous people on the red carpet today.

“All these fucking cameras here are a reminder of man’s ability to generate movies.”

This is the first time the Queenslander has starred in an Oscar-nominated film.

But he’s at a loss as to why it was nominated in the foreign language category.

“Maybe it’s because we speak Australian, not that Queens English shit that other Australian actors and actresses jibber on with,” he said.

“Anyway mate, look at all the aerials on top of this place [Dolby Theatre]. What do you think? This place must be worth a fortune.”

More to come.
