On the eve of State Origin 1, Maroons Coach Paul Green has just dropped a bombshell announcement.

The new Queensland coach has revealed to the media that there are fears the entire 20 man squad may have contracted the Indian Strain of the bat fever.

Noted as the worst type currently getting around, Green confirmed this morning that his whole team is in grave doubt for tomorrow night’s blockbuster series opener in Townsville.

“As of 10am this morning, everyone is in quarantine with tests urgently being carried out,” explained Green to a couple of Queensland-based Rugby League writers before walking over and coughing on the Daily Tele journo who braved the flight up to the Ville.

“At this point in time, we are looking at fielding a mix of the Brother’s and Crushers’ A Grade sides from the local comp for tomorrow night.”

The huge news comes after Dane Gagai reportedly missed training with tonsillitis, with Harry Grant, Cameron Munster, and AJ Brimson are all under ‘injury clouds.’

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk is yet to comment on the potential outbreak in the Far North.

NSW spokesperson Gus Gould foamed at the mouth before throwing a chair through a Channel Nine window after being asked to give comment on the recent news.

More to come.
